Kilimanjaro 5K/10k Trail Run
Mission Statement
We help support a native community of Maasai people in Moshi, Tanzania, who own and operate an organic farm. In the past you have helped us raise funds to build a water storage tank and raise the necessary funds to have a Bible Curriculum ( International School of Ministry) translated into the native Maasai language. This year’s event is going towards the farm expenses: equipment, labor, wages, seeds, education, etc… Thank you in advance for “sowing” into our Maasai Mission.

Kilimanjaro 5K/10K Trail Run 2023
Both the 5K and 10K runs are loops that begin and end at the Jersey Bridge Parking lot. The 5K run follows the Oil Creek Bike Trail south approximately 1.75 miles, turns north onto a single track run along Oil Creek approximately .50 miles, crossing over a suspension bridge, and continuing north along the east side of Oil Creek on a dirt maintenance road approximately 1.0 mile and crossing over the Jersey Bridge to the finish. The total run has minimal elevation change.
The 10 K run begins in the Jersey Bridge parking lot, crossing the Jersey Bridge, running south around the “Dike” approximately 1 mile, crossing back over the bridge and running up to the Gerard Trail head. This is the beginning of a 5 mile, single track challenge. You will run south on the trail approximately 2.25 miles, crossing over the Oil Creek Bike Trail and go south along Oil Creek for approximately .50 miles, crossing over Oil Creek on a suspension bridge. This begins a major climb, a 10 % grade for approximately 1 mile, known locally as “ The Hill of Truth.” Once you’ve crested the Hill of Truth, it’s a nice gradual, 2.5 mile, mostly downhill run to the finish. This run has an elevation gain of approximately 850 feet. Both courses are extremely well marked and there will be plenty of drinking water along the trails.
There will be snacks and drinks at the end of the race as well as awards for the overall male and female winner of both runs and there will also be age group awards, in 5 year increments, for each race.
